ECB Stopped Jofra Archer from Participating in IPL 2024

Jofra Archer missed the 2023 Ashes and 2023 World Cup due to the elbow injury.

England’s Director of Cricket, Rob Key, revealed that the fast bowling sensation Jofra Archer was keen to participate in the IPL 2024. However, the ECB stepped in, advising against it to dodge more injuries messing up his career.

Archer, who was part of the Mumbai Indians in the last IPL season, didn’t make the cut for retention and missed the auction. His MI gig had a handful of games, but his elbow injury messed with his game. He even had a minor surgery in Belgium during IPL 2023.

He wanted to play in the IPL, but we said not this time. Hopefully, the years he has missed he can add to the end of his career. He is such a talent,” said Rob Key on the BBC’s ‘Tailenders Podcast.

Archer made a comeback playing for his school team in the Caribbean, and Key was all praises for his performance. According to the England cricket chief, it seemed like Archer never stepped away from the game.

“I saw him bowl in the Caribbean, and it was like he’d never been away. I don’t want to get back to this thing where he plays and then goes down again,” Key added.
