England, on Sunday (November 13) outclassed Pakistan by five wickets in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 to clinch the trophy.
The Three Lions rode on Ben Stokes‘ sensational half-century to chase down the paltry target of 138 runs in 19 overs at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to lift the coveted trophy for the second time.
Apart from Stokes, the likes of Jos Buttler (26 off 17), Philip Salt (10 off 9), Harry Brook (20 off 23), and Moeen Ali (19 off 13) also chipped in with handy contributions with the bat.
On the bowling front, Haris Rauf picked two wickets while conceding 23 runs in his four overs quota while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Wasim Jr bagged a brace each.
Earlier, England restricted Pakistan to 137 for 8 after opting to bowl first with Sam Curran registering a stupendous figure of 3 for 12 and Adil Rashid picking 2 for 22.
Babar Azam and Shan Masood top scored 32 and 38 respectively, while Shadab Khan (20 off 14) and Mohammad Rizwan (15 off 14) were the other two who could manage to score in double digits.
