Hardik Pandya, named as the new captain for Mumbai Indians, is reportedly set to miss the 2024 IPL season, as per media reports.
PTI reports suggest that due to a prolonged ankle injury, Hardik may not recover in time for the Afghanistan series and is at risk of sitting out the entire IPL 2024 season.
Hardik Pandya sustained an ankle injury during the ICC World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh, which saw him missing the remainder of the tournament. The injury also forced him to miss the T20I series against Australia and the subsequent white-ball matches in South Africa.

Should Hardik Pandya not recover in time for IPL 2024, there’s speculation that either Rohit Sharma or Suryakumar Yadav, the recent T20I series captain against Australia and South Africa, may take over the Mumbai Indians’ leadership.
