Sanju Samson is doubtful for the second T20I against Sri Lanka.
Team India suffered another injury blow as wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson is doubtful for the second T20I against Sri Lanka in Pune on Thursday, January 5.
As per Cricbuzz, the Kerala batter has niggle on his knee and has not travelled with the Indian team to Pune. He has stayed back in Mumbai for scans.
The 28-year-old was injured in an attempt to save a boundary during Sri Lanka’s run chase at the Wankhede Stadium. Samson couldn’t contribute with the bat as well, having been dismissed for just five runs.
Rahul Tripathi Likely To Make T20I Debut for India
In the absence of Samson, Rahul Tripathi is expected to make a T20I debut for India. The Maharashtra batter has been travelling with India for a long time but couldn’t get a chance to don the blue jersey.
India registered a narrow two-run victory in the T20I series opener courtesy of Shivam Mavi’s sensational four-wicket haul and Umran Malik’s fiery spell. With the win, the hosts have taken a 1-0 lead in the series.
