Dhoni has been the captain of CSK since 2008, the year in which Indian Premier League was inaugurated. During the two-year ban, in 2016 and 2017, MS Dhoni moved to Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) and played 30 matches for them. He leads Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016 but in 2017, he was replaced by Steve Smith.
In 199 games, the former India captain scored 4,568 runs, which includes 23 fifties, with the highest score of 84 not out. His strike-rate reads 137.67.
Chennai Super Kings has played record eight finals under his captaincy and has won the trophy thrice. In IPL 2019 final, CSK fell short to Mumbai Indians by just one run.
Apart from Dhoni, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is second in the list with 197 IPL matches, Suresh Raina has played 193 whereas Dinesh Karthik and Virat Kohli have played 191 and 186 IPL matches respectively.
