Royal Challengers Bangalore star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal played brilliantly against the Rajasthan Royals in the first-day match of the tournament. Royal Challengers Bangalore, captained by Virat Kohli, defeated Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi to register their third win of the season.

The Rajasthan Royals won the toss and scored 154 runs for 6 wickets, after which Royal Challengers Bangalore attain the target by losing 2 wickets in 19.1 overs. For RCB, Captain Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 72 and Devdutt Padikkal scored 63 runs.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s Phenomenal Performance

RCB spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took 3 wickets for the team. He conceded just 24 runs in 4 overs and took Sanju Samson (4), Mahipal Lomror (47) and Robin Uthappa (17). He was awarded Man of the Match for this outstanding performance. With this, he got 8 wickets in the current season of the IPL and reached the top sharing with Kings XI Punjab pacer Mohammed Shami (8 wickets in 4 matches).

Rajasthan’s 3 wickets down at a team score of 31 when Sanju Samson was caught by Yuzvendra Chahal on his first ball of the match. Samson could score only 4 runs. Chahal then hunted Robin Uthappa and Lomror.

Virat Kohli Back in Form

Captain Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 72 and shared a 99-run partnership for the second wicket with young opener Devdutt Padikkal (63). Virat hit 7 fours and 2 sixes in his unbeaten innings of 53 balls.

Padikkal’s Third Fifty in Season

RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal scored his third half-century of IPL career. He hit Jaydev Unadkat on the third ball of the 12th over and completed the fifty. This is his third half-century of the current season and currently, he has become the first player to score three half-centuries this season. He hit 6 fours and 1 six off 45 balls in his innings of 63 runs. Padikkal had earlier scored 56 against Sunrisers Hyderabad and 54 against Mumbai Indians in Dubai.

Finch Returned Early

Opener Aaron Finch returned to the pavilion cheaply and was hunted down by Shreyas Gopal on an individual score of 8 runs. Finch was dismissed LBW by Shreyas Gopal on the third ball of the third over of the innings. Although the on-field umpire gave him not out, Finch had to return to the pavilion after taking DRS from Rajasthan. Finch hit 2 fours off 7 balls.

Mahipal Lomore Missed The First Fifty of IPL Career

Mahipal Lomror (47) missed the first fifty of his IPL career and was caught by Devdutt Padikkal off Chahal in the 17th over of the innings. Common hit 1 four and 3 sixes in his 39-ball innings.
