The 52nd match of the 13th season of the Indian Premier League was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and SunRisers Hyderabad at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in which David Warner and Co. won the match by five wickets and moved to the fourth spot in the points table with 12 points.

Earlier in the match, Hyderabad’s skipper David Warner won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore team posted only 120 runs, losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Chasing 121, SunRisers Hyderabad, achieved the target with ease in just 14.1 overs, losing five wickets.

The IPL 2020 playoff race has become interesting after the defeat of Royal Challengers Bangalore in this match. Only Mumbai Indians have qualified for the playoffs. At the same time, Chennai is out of the Super Kings race, but the battle for three places between the remaining 6 teams continues.

Winning Skipper, David Warner’s Reaction:

“Coming here, needing to win against top teams, needing to win all to qualify. It is big. Losing Vijay is a big miss. For us, we worked out how to go about it. The right balance, right partnerships. All the credit today goes to the bowlers. The kind of wicket it is, it is slowing up quite a bit. The bowlers have to adapt. Can’t just be yorkers, can’t just be slowers. You have to hit the wicket. I was not surprised at all with the dew. When it is cooler here, it gets quite dewy. Jason is a very very good cricket ball. Someone of his height, if you are trying to bowl a bouncer to him, you have to dig it is quite short. And it will sit up for him in these pitches. Same do-or-die in the next game. Yeah, we can still win the IPL. We had to win all three in 2016. We are winning these close ones. Of course, we lost that close one the other night; don’t even remind me of it.”

Losing skipper, Virat Kohli’s Reaction:

“It was never enough. We thought 140 might be a good total to get into the game, but things changed drastically, which we didn’t predict. It is strange. We thought the weather became pleasant, and there won’t be much dew. I thought we were not brave enough with the bat throughout the innings. To be fair to them, they bowled in the right areas and used the pitch. The situation is straightforward: win the last game and finish in the top two. It is going to be a cracker of a game with two …

Player of the Match, Sandeep Sharma’s Reaction:

“When I started bowling, it was a bit sticky. It’s coming nicely, it’s got cooler here, so it’s helping. I have been bowling the knuckleball, Jonny (Bairstow) has been helping me. It took around three or four months to get it right. Kohli is one of the greatest batsmen, so getting him out is special. Now we are finding the momentum with one game to go. We are excited about that, let’s see what happens.”
