IPL 2021, Match 3 - SRH vs KKR: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 runs to register their 100th IPL win.

SRH vs KKR: Brilliant batting by the likes of Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi and an all-round bowling performance has helped Kolkata Knight Riders notch up a ten-run 100th IPL win over SunRisers Hyderabad in Chennai.

Chasing a massive target of 188, Hyderabad had the worse possible start as they lost two wickets for 10 inside within the first three overs. Then, Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey took the charge of the team by adding a much-needed 92-run stand for the fourth wicket before KKR pacer Pat Cummins broke the partnership by sending Bairstow back to the pavilion for 53.
Pandey, however, remained unbeaten on 61 but failed to take his side over the finish line as SRH lost the match by 10 runs.
Earlier in the match, Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill gave a perfect start to their team. The duo added 53 runs for the opening wicket before the star pacer Rashid Khan gave a much-needed breakthrough to his team by dismissing Gill on 15.
However, Rana kept on hitting boundaries and formed another important 93-run stand with Rahul Tripathi for the second wicket. In between all these, Rana also slammed a half-century. He scored 80 off 56 balls, with the help of nine fours and four sixes. Rahul Tripathi also gave a good contribution by smashing 53 runs on just 29 balls.
Later, former skipper Dinesh Karthik gave KKR a tremendous finish after smashing unbeaten 22 runs from just nine deliveries to take his side to 187/6.
For SunRisers Hyderabad, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi took two wickets each. At the same time, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan finished with one wicket apiece.

Opening batsman Nitish Rana gave Kolkata a brilliant start in the match. He was on fire against the fast bowlers in the powerplay and played in a similar manner throughout.
Rana raced to his 12th fifty in the IPL off 37 balls. He went on to compile a resounding 80 off 56 balls, an innings studded with 9 fours and 4 sixes.
2. Rahul Tripathi Completes 1,000 IPL Runs
Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Rahul Tripathi has completed 1,000 runs in the Indian Premier League. He achieved the feat while playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in KKR’s opening match of IPL 2021. He has also gone past Kevin Pietersen who scored 1,001 runs in the Indian Premier League.
3. Kolkata Knight Riders Registers Their 100th IPL Win
It was KKR’s 100th win in the IPL and their co-owner Shah Rukh Khan took to Twitter to express his happiness on his side’s century of wins in the franchise-based tournament. “Good to hav our 100th IPL match win.
