Gujarat Titans announce Dasun Shanaka as Kane Williamson's replacement who sustained a right leg injury during the opening match against CSK.
Gujarat Titans, on Tuesday, April 4 announced Dasun Shanaka as a replacement for Kane Williamson for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
Williamson sustained a right leg injury during the opening match against Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 31st, 2023, which led to him being ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
Sri Lanka’s white-ball captain has been in exceptional form lately, having topped the batting charts during their tour of India.
Since then, there was a lot of buzz among fans about him being a potential injury replacement and a great addition to the tournament and this could be the perfect opportunity to unleash the Islander’s beast in the cash-rich league.
So far, he has amassed more than 3,702 runs in 181 T20s he played so far at an average of 28.04 and a strike rate of 141.94. It remains to be seen if he gets a chance in the playing XI for Gujarat Titans.
