IPL 2023: Pragyan Ojha Suggests A Replacement For Rishabh Pant In Delhi Capitals

Rishabh Pant will miss the 2023 season of IPL.

Former India cricketer Pragyan Ojha reckoned that wicketkeeper-batter Philip Salt could be a potential replacement for Rishabh Pant in Delhi Capitals for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Philip Salt looked in an ominous form against Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the ongoing SA20. Opening the batting for Pretoria Capitals, Salt mustered 77 runs from just 47 deliveries. His knock had 11 boundaries studded in it.

Notably, Pretoria Capitals is the sister franchise of Delhi Capitals and Salt was picked up by the Delhi-based franchise at his base price of INR 2 crore. Speaking on Match Centre Live, here’s what Viacom18 Sports expert Pragyan Ojha said on Philip Salt:

“The most important thing is when you talk about their sister franchise the situation that they are in they would need someone like Salt to keep and deliver the way he’s delivered here. And I think all these think tanks will be looking at him as a resource where he can come in and fix those puzzles which they have a small gap in.”

For the uninitiated, the star Indian batter Rishabh Pant is likely to miss the 16th edition of the cash-rich league after surviving a severe accident. He has suffered several blows on the body and is expected to miss the cricket action for at least five months.
