IPL 2023: Sunrisers Hyderabad Likely to Release Kane Williamson Ahead of Mini-Auction

With the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) just over four months away, all ten franchises have kicked off their pre-tournament preparations for the lucrative league.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) seems to be eyeing a major overhaul ahead of the 16th season of the cash-rich league as they are set to release their captain Kane Williamson ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction.
The reports surfaced soon after Kane Williamson-led New Zealand was outclassed by Pakistan in the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 on Wednesday, November 9.
The Black Caps were outstanding through the tournament but were handed a seven wickets defeat at the hands of Pakistan and were knocked out of the tournament.
Kane Williamson had an average season with the bat in the tournament, accumulating 178 runs in five matches at an average of 35.60 and a strike rate of 116.34.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked the franchises to submit the list of their retained and released players by November 15 with the mini-auction slated to take place in December.
Sunrisers Hyderabad to retain Aiden Markram
If reports are to be believed, the 2016-IPL champions have decided to stick with Proteas star batter Aiden Markram amidst transfer offers from other franchises. In the 2022 season of IPL, he accumulated 381 runs in 14 innings at an average of 47.63
The Hyderabad-based franchise is also set to release the West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran, all-rounder Romario Shepherd and Australia all-rounder Sean Abbott ahead of the mini-auction.
