WATCH: Lahiru Kumara and Liton Das Engage In War Of Words During SL vs BAN

Sri Lanka pacer Lahiru Kumara was involved in a heated exchange of words with Bangladesh batsman Liton Das.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are facing each other in the 15th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first in Sharjah. Bangladesh openers Liton Das and Mohammad Naim added 40 runs within the first 6 overs with Das contributing 16 runs.

Liton Das’s innings came to an end on the 5th ball of the sixth over of Lahiru Kumara, when Liton backed towards the the leg side to pull the ball over mid-off, where Dasun Shanaka took an easy catch.

However, Kumara while celebrating his wicket swapped a few words with Liton Das as the batter was walking back to the pavilion. Things got heated up and their fellow players and on-field umpires had to intervene to calm down the duo.

However, it wasn’t the first incident that caught the attention of fans as things were already heated on the final ball of 4th over when Kumara had thrown a ball straight towards Mohammad Naim, who had hit it straight back to him. Naim ducked to avoid getting hit, while Kumara stared at him.

Sri Lanka is coming off an unbeaten run in the first round, while Bangladesh faced a loss in their first match against Scotland and bounced back strongly in the remaining game to finish second in their group.

Sri Lanka brought one change from the team that thrashed the Netherlands. Maheesh Teekshana, the mystery spinner, has been excluded with a side strain while Binura Fernando has replaced him in the playing XI.

Bangladesh, also made one change as pacer Taskin Ahmed has been replaced by left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed.
