Mitchell Starc Confirms IPL 2025 Return, Names Team He Wants To Play For
Mitchell Starc bowled a match-winning spell in the IPL 2024 final.
Australian pace legend Mitchell Starc, the IPL’s most expensive player, has confirmed his desire to return for the 2025 season, ideally with his victorious team, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
KKR secured their third IPL title on Sunday, with Starc playing a pivotal role in both the first qualifier and the final. In the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad, his crucial wickets of Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi dismantled their top order, restricting them to a paltry 113 runs.
Speaking at the post-match conference, Starc acknowledged the twilight of his career, hinting at potentially reducing his international commitments. He expressed his enthusiasm for the IPL and his desire to return next year, “possibly in Purple and Gold,” KKR’s signature colours.
While his retention remains a decision for Kolkata Knight Riders management, Starc enjoyed his stint with the team. “It has been an enjoyable last 9 weeks with the team,” he said, hinting at his preference to stay.
The BCCI is yet to finalize the number of player retentions allowed before the upcoming mega auction in 2025. However, given Starc’s impactful performance, KKR is highly likely to retain him.
