Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 Squad: Full Player List
Momammad Amir and Imad Wasim returns in Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 Squad
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally announced their 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, making them the last team to reveal their selection. The tournament will be held in the West Indies and USA from June 1 to June 29.
Babar Azam will continue to lead the Pakistan team, with some notable inclusions and exclusions. Veteran pacers Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim made a much-publicized return after stepping away from international cricket. They last played in the 2016 and 2021 World Cups respectively. This marks a significant U-turn for both players.
Eight members from Pakistan’s 2022 World Cup squad retained their places. All-rounder Salman Ali Agha and fast bowler Mohammad Irfan Khan, who were part of the wider training squad for the recent Ireland and England series, missed out on the final selection.
Several youngsters received their first T20 World Cup call-up, including Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan. These fresh faces join the experienced Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, who will bring valuable experience to the squad.
Fast bowler Haris Rauf recovered from a shoulder injury and earned a well-deserved spot. While he missed out on playing time during the England series, the PCB is confident he’ll contribute alongside the other strike bowlers.
Pakistan finds itself in Group A alongside India, Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts the United States. Their journey begins on June 6 against the USA in Dallas.
