Rohit Sharma Ruled Out of 2nd Test Against Bangladesh: Reports
Rohit Sharma ruled out of the second Test against Bangladesh.
In what comes as a huge blow, team India’s regular skipper Rohit Sharma ruled out of the second and final Test against Bangladesh, scheduled to be played from December 22 in Dhaka.
As per report of Cricbuzz, the Mumbai batter is yet to recover from the finger injury he sustained during the second ODI against Bangladesh. The Indian management doesn’t want to risk him ahead of the big assignment against Australia.
Rohit was earlier ruled out of the third ODI and first Test match. Abhimanyu Easwaran, who played in the unofficial Tests against Bangladesh A, was called up as his replacement.
However, Abhimanyu Easwaran didn’t get a match as Shubman Gill opened the innings alongside KL Rahul in the first Test. Rohit Sharma missing the second Test also implies that KL Rahul will continue leading the team in the second Test as well.
Shubman Gill, who smacked his maiden Test century in the second innings of the opening Test will retain his place at the top. Earlier, captain KL Rahul shared an update on Rohit Sharma’s availability, stating that the Indian team would get to know about him in a day or two.
“About Rohit, we will get to know in the next day or two. I am not even aware of it. The focus was completely on the Test match,” Rahul was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference.
India won the opening Test against Bangladesh by 188 runs and have taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. The second Test is set to start on Thursday, December 22 in Mirpur.
