Steve Smith Completes 14000 Runs in International Cricket, Becomes Fastest Australian To Achieve The Landmark

Former Australia captain Steve Smith surpassed the 14,000-run mark in international cricket and became the fastest player from his country to achieve this milestone.

The Australian batting veteran has surpassed David Boon (13,386) to become the ninth-highest run scorer in international cricket for Australia.

Smith achieved this landmark in the second ODI against England on Saturday, November 19 at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

The 33-year-old played a flamboyant knock of 94 runs off 114 balls to help Australia post a competitive total of 280 runs on the board.

The right-hander has been in great form in international cricket of late. It was his fourth consecutive half-century in ODIs.

He played an unbeaten knock of 80 runs off 78 balls in the first ODI match to help the hosts chase down the target of 288 runs.

Steve Smith now has 14,065 runs in 288 matches at an average of 49.52. He has 40 centuries and 69 half-centuries to his name.

As for the match, Australia outclassed England by 72 runs in the second ODI and clinched the three-match series following their two consecutive wins.
