Tamil Nadu Lifts Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy For The Second Time, Defeating Baroda by 7 Wickets
Tamil Nadu won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2020/21 defeating baroda in the final by 7 wickets.

Tamil Nadu defeated third-time finalist Baroda by 7 wickets to claim their second Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) title. Tamil Nadu created history by winning the title without losing a single match this season. Last season, Tamil Nadu team lost to Karnataka by just one run in the final.
Tamil Nadu won their first Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title in 2006-07. Both titles won under the captaincy of Dinesh Karthik.
Tamil Nadu won the toss and invited Baroda to bat, giving a target of 121 runs losing 9 wickets to which Tamil Nadu achieved in 18 overs proved why they are the most dominating side of the tournament.
Bad Start For Baroda in The Finals
Baroda’s team, which performed brilliantly in the semi-final match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, invited to bat first after losing the toss, the team did not have a good start and the team lost their first two wickets on a score of just 22 runs. However, Vishnu Solanki stood at one end and scored 49 runs in 55 balls, but other batsmen didn’t support him and the team could only score 120 runs after losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. Manimran Siddharth, bowling brilliantly for Tamil Nadu, took 4 wickets conceding just 20 runs in his four-over spell.
Tamil Nadu’s Fantastic Chase
Tamil Nadu’s start was not too very good and N Jagadishan returned to the pavilion after scoring just 12 runs. Subsequently, Baba Aparajith (29 not out) and Hari Nishant added 41 runs for the second wicket, but Nishant was dismissed by Baba Pathan at an individual score of 35 runs. Captain Dinesh Karthik smashed 22 runs off 16 balls. In the last over, Shah Rukh Khan batted drastically, played an unbeaten inning of 18 runs with the help of 2 fours and a six in just 7 deliveries.

M Siddharth adjudged man of the match in the finals of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for his brilliant spell of 4 overs, conceding 20 runs and took 4 wickets.
