‘Virat Kohli Puts Pressure On Youngsters’ – Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu also took a dig at Virat Kohli, stating Orange Cap doesn’t win you IPL trophy.

Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu took another dig at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clinched the IPL 2024 trophy. Rayudu, who has been critical of RCB since their IPL exit, pointed out that titles are won through collective effort, not individual brilliance.
This year, Virat Kohli was the IPL’s highest run-scorer, surpassing 700 runs. However, Royal Challengers Bengaluru‘s campaign ended in the Eliminator against Rajasthan Royals.
“Congratulations to KKR for backing their stalwarts like Narine, Russell, and Starc while also getting contributions from others. That’s how you win the IPL,” Rayudu said on Star Sports. “It’s not about the Orange Cap, it’s about contributions like 300 runs each from multiple players.”
Ambati Rayudu went on to suggest that Kohli’s exceptional performance might be putting pressure on younger teammates.
“Virat Kohli is a legend, and his high standards put a lot of pressure on the youngsters to match him. Maybe Virat needs to lower his standards a bit to create a more positive atmosphere in the dressing room,” he opined.
While Kohli has been RCB’s batting mainstay for years, the team has lacked consistent support from other batters and the bowling department.
