‘Virender Sehwag Who?’ – Shakib Al Hasan’s Mouth-shutting Reply to Indian Batter Goes Viral

Virender Sehwag recently criticized Shakib Al Hasan for continuing to play T20 cricket.

Facing criticism over his performance in the current T20 World Cup, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan silenced his critics with a match-winning performance against the Netherlands on Thursday.

The seasoned all-rounder notched his 13th fifty in T20 cricket, taking Bangladesh one step closer towards Super 8s qualification. Shakib remained unbeaten on 64 off 46 balls, hitting nine fours.

This stellar effort from Shakib Al Hasan came following former India batter Virender Sehwag‘s questioning of the all-rounder’s place in the team.

Sehwag had claimed that Shakib should have retired from the T20 format long ago and even insisted that his numbers in the shortest format of the game has been ‘shameful’ lately.

However, Shakib responded to Sehwag’s comments with a single word after the match against the Netherlands. When asked about Sehwag’s remarks, the 37-year-old casually referred to the former India opener as “who?”.

A video of the same has now gone viral on social media.

However, Shakib pointed out that a player’s main role is to contribute to his team in every possible way, not to engage in answering critics.

“In reality, there’s nothing to answer to anyone. I believe it’s crucial for a current player to focus on how much they can contribute to their team. When they cannot contribute, discussions naturally arise, which I don’t think is a negative thing,” said Shakib during the post-match press conference.

With four points from three matches, Bangladesh stands on the brink of Super 8 qualification. A win against Nepal on Monday would seal their spot.
